About

My name is Elaine Fawcett and I am a writer in the fields of functional medicine, functional neurology, and alternative health and nutrition.

I have ghostwritten books and articles and produced web content and copy writing for functional medicine practitioners.

How I came to health writing

I began as a freelance writer for the San Francisco Chronicle and went on to write for numerous local, regional, and national publications as well as several newspapers. I have been a science writer for WebMD.com, a stringer for Time magazine, and a contributor to a variety of magazines. I have a master’s degree in journalism from U.C. Berkeley, where I was mentored by Clay Felker, the late founder of New York Magazine.

After becoming a mom in 2000 I embarked on a journey to resolve my children’s health problems, discovering my passion for health and nutrition in the process. I become certified as a nutritional therapist and went on to acquire several hundred more hours of education in functional medicine (including functional neurology), primarily from Datis Kharrazian, DHSc, DC, MNeuroSci.

In addition to writing about health I also enjoy spending time with my two children and my husband on our two-acre mini-farm, playing roller derby, and socializing with friends.
